This update brings the following features and improvements :

  • Google Widevine license delivery update : packaging is enabled by default, and the JSON license template is visible and editable
  • Optimizations for large number of jobs running. Code has been optimized to monitor only visible jobs and increase the job polling time when needed. This should dramatically improve performances for accounts with a large number of running jobs
  • Thumbnails generation is now available in Media Encoder Standard UI. The thumbnail generation option in the menu has been moved from AME to MES processor
  • Date/time range filtering. A date/time range can be specified for the assets, jobs, channels and programs queries.
  • It's now possible to change the encoding preset on an existing live channel
  • Asset filters copy option. When a program is cloned or an asset is duplicated, there is an option to copy the asset filters. (time start and end values are reset when doing program cloning)

  • New bulk ingest manifest feature (in transfers tab). Useful if you want to upload assets with an another client application (like Aspera or Signiant). Upload is decoupled from Azure Media Services asset creation. Any application that copies files to Azure Storage can be used.
    • a new UI to select files or folder to upload, and to organize the destinations assets
    • support for local storage encryption before the upload
    • tested with Cloudberry Explorer
  • Support for new Media Processors (private preview)
  • Adds two audio only profiles for Media Encoder Standard (MES)

This update brings the following features and improvements :

  • New asset download to local dialog box. The tool can create folders based on the asset name or asset Id and open them when download is completed.
  • Better performance to display assets details in the grid (cache in memory)
  • Optimization for large number of assets or jobs. Search in assets/jobs/channels/programs are now done on all items, not the last 1000 items (queries have been rewritten to be executed by the back-end when possible). This version has been tested on a media services account with 11000 assets. New option to display programs for all channels.
  • When playing-back a content, user can select multiple filters and the no audio-only mode for HLS, and see the preview of the URL. See the recent blog post regarding these new features.
  • New software update UI. Explorer can auto update when a new release is published. Released notes are displayed.
  • Azure Storage settings dialog box (to activate metrics, and change the default storage in order to allow byte range access for progressive download)
  • Option to Delete all visible assets, or to delete all visible jobs
  • More tasks details in job reports.
  • JSON and XML syntax check in Premium Workflow, MES and in multi processors dialog box

  • Support for Widevine Modular DRM header insertion for DASH output with Common Encryption. There is now an option in the tool to add a Widevine header when adding a dynamic encryption policy. A license acquisition URL can be optionally specified (a third party service is needed to deliver the licenses, see this blog post).
  • Update to the way Azure Media Player is called for Widevine protected content (protection=widevine or protection=drm)
  • New asset file Edit feature in asset info/asset files. For example, a manifest or a subtitle file can be directly edited on-line
  • Added a button to pass XML data to Premium Workflow Encoder processor (to set transcodeSource or setRuntimeProperties data)

Please read the today's Azure Media Services new services and partnerships at IBC 2015 and the blog post on sub-clipping and live archive extraction with Media Encoder Standard.
And since today, you can encode Apple ProRes and QuickTime source videos with Media Encoder Standard!

  • Better support for High DPI screens / large text. In some configurations (like the Surface Pro 3), channels and programs in the Live tab were not visible. Project targets .NET Framework 4.5.2.

  • Update to Live Encoding, currently in Private Preview. The encoding preset is displayed when a live channel is created. The Ad and Slate Control UI has been improved (stream preview and slate preview can be resized, more information is given in the slate preview area). The slate image is verified for compliancy (aspect ratio, size, etc) before uploading it to Azure Media Services.
  • Update to Azure Media Encoder UI: description of each preset is now provided.
  • Progress bars are only displayed for effective jobs.

This update brings the following features :

    Encoding can be setup when creating a new channel.
    A new Ad and Slate control UI has been added to insert ads and slate on a live channel. It is possible to control several channels at the same time as the dialog is not modal.
  • Updated UI for Azure Media Indexer : added support for Spanish language and new configuration options. See http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2015/04/13/azure-media-indexer-spanish-v1-2/
  • Generic processor has been replaced by Multiple processors UI. With this dialog, it is possible to create a job with 5 tasks max. For example, this can be used to create a single job that does indexing, thumbnails generation and encoding of a video file. Then this job can be saved as a Job Template to be used later by the user or by the WatchFolder mecanism.
  • New UI to launch an on-premises encoder. There is a new option to launch an on-premises encoder in order to push a live stream to a channel. The command line for ffmpeg or VLC is automatically generated. Wirecast, Adobe Media Encoder and Azure Media Capture are also listed.
  • Update to Watch Folder . It is now possible, for each file uploaded with WatchFolder, to process it with a job template, publish it and send an email when the workflow is completed.

This update brings the following features :

  • Support for Azure CDN activation/deactivation on a Streaming Endpoint. For more information on Media Services and Azure CDN integration, see http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2015/03/17/announcing-azure-media-services-integration-with-azure-cdn-content-delivery-network/
  • New asset copy feature (cloud to cloud). This works for VOD and live archives. Asset(s) can be copied to another Media Services account, including to an account in another Datacenter, to the default storage or to any attached storage. Merging the assets is proposed as an option in the dialog box.
    This feature can be used to replicate the content for backup, high availability or storage migration scenarios.
  • Locator management improvement: the expiration date is displayed in the asset grid, and it is possible to sort the assets based on the expiration date. This allows the user to see and extend the locators which expired or will expire soon.

  • Multiple options for the content key authorization policy. It is now possible to add several options in the content key authorization policy when configuring dynamic encryption. This can be used to support both SWT and JWT tokens for the same key delivery, or deliver a custom PlayReady license based on the claims in the token.
