I've always made the assumption that any given email would only contain at most, one tracker. Email samples that I've received from various users unfortunately show that some may actually include more than one tracker in some cases. The Tracker Report hasn't been updated to support this yet but the popover in your email will now show all vendors with the number of tracker images found. Shout out to @spalmen for submitting an .eml with a record of over 10 trackers in a single email.

An eagle-eyed user @austinhuang0131 pointed out another instance of a banner image with a tracker in it. Doesn't seem to be too frequent but do let me know if you suspect something odd.

Cut out this update a bit earlier than usual in anticipation of macOS Monterey 12.1. Also, had a few users report that they no longer see the solid grey ⓧ
(i.e. not seeing unidentified trackers)!

Another user-contributed ruleset update. I'm not seeing many solid grey ⓧ icons
nowadays in my inbox these days. How about you?

Ruleset update.

Necessary update to address some broken images and some Litmus CSS trackers that were getting through (#148) on some particular newsletters. Also discovered a tracker embedded in a header logo too for the first time. If you have suspicions, feel free to report your eml
s.
Thanks!

While I still highly recommend using Monterey's default Mail Privacy Protection feature exclusively when possible (versus using MailTrackerBlocker), Monterey support is now baked in by popular request. This may be a useful alternative for users experiencing "Unable to load remote content privately" on some VPN setups, for example.
This version also now blocks some CSS-based trackers that I noticed were being let through.
And as always, thanks for the user-submitted eml
s. I rely on these heavily to keep the ruleset relevant and up-to-date.

Enabling Monterey's new built-in mail privacy features is recommended over using MailTrackerBlocker.

Update courtesy of your fellow users and their submissions. I've received a few odd emls that I haven't been able to label because the URL goes back to some obscure domains. Thankfully the other half of the remaining unlabelled emls appear to be false positives as they contain thin vertical spacers (MailTrackerBlocker blocking these seem to have very minimal cosmetic effects).

Another round of thanks to MailTrackerBlocker users who submitted their .eml
s; we uncovered even more trackers that flew under the radar as well as some region-targeted LiveIntent ad banners that change when loaded. This makes the first email ad banner ban.
