MailTrackerBlocker

Had to push this one out as I've been making a number of tracker rule reassignments and aggregations over the past few versions.

• fixed crash when revisiting emails in certain cases (caused by an email's previously identified tracker with an older version of MailTrackerBlocker being reidentified in a newer version due to rule changes).

In the previous update, I asked MailTrackerBlocker users for help in tracking down unknown trackers (denoted by a grey ⓧ icon) by sending me their emails. Thanks to Robert R., Bill S., Peter J. for answering the call!

In the news

Apple recently announced macOS 12/Monterey (and iOS 15) with Mail Privacy Protection. Apple being in the game (albeit with an opt-in thing) I imagine will have a pretty big impact on spy pixels as they are today. And because this first-party feature will be built into Mail, as an initial reaction at least, it doesn't makes much sense for MailTrackerBlocker to support macOS 12.

What's new?

1. The Tracker Report. Inspired by a similar feature in Safari, this feature keeps a summary of emails as you read them and will tell you:

• total number of trackers seen
• the ratio of tracked emails to untracked emails
• most recurring tracker seen
• a list of your emails grouped by tracker vendor

Try it by hitting MailTrackerBlocker's ⓧ button then the ℹ️ button on the popover to access this new report screen!

2. Update check. This has been the top requested feature in Issues for a while now. Be sure to allow it when prompted!

Release had to go back in the oven but the new Big Sur auto-enable process in the installer should be working now!
