New Features

Subscribed icon (beta-ish!)

You can now enable a little heart badge next to a community to easily tell if you are subscribed or not. You can also select whether to enable only in all/local (where you probably have most interest in seeing it), or everywhere.

By default it is turned off: In some situations, it may be clipped/ellipsed (if the name is too long). I plan on fixing this layout issue in the future.

Filtered websites

You can now filter posts in your feed to specific websites! Keep in mind this does NOT sync with your lemmy account like blocks do.

Persisted search sort

The search feeds, and discover communities feed will now remember your sort (if "Remember Community Sort" is on in Settings).

Inbox changes

You can now use the full markdown editor to compose a private message! In addition, you can new use swipe gestures on a private message in your inbox. The UI for the conversations page has also been slightly changed and optimized.

Login instance modal changes

The login instance now shows all instances, without typing. This is helpful for new users that might not remember exactly what their instance domain is. There are also various small bugfixes and other usability changes on this page.

Communities list changes

The "Explore" button now sorts by top (all time) by default. This should be more helpful to newcomers.

New Features

Profile tab label setting

If you have a bunch of user accounts on one instance, it's now much easier to confirm what account you're on when you change the display label in Settings to show username instead of instance!

Apple Watch App

We now have an Apple Watch App. It's pretty basic, but actually pretty useful. It stays synced with the logged in account on the iPhone, and you can view the top posts from your home feed, as well as save to your Lemmy profile for later (similar to Apple News app).

Android build submitted to Play Store

Once we get the public testing approved I'll share! Android users will be happy to hear that the BACK BUTTON IS NOW RESPECTED in virtually all parts of the UI, including modals and action sheets.

Theming

Themes are here! They're limited for now to adjusting primary color, but there's now a non-pure-black dark mode! Some people prefer this for readability so check it out!

Some users were having issues with the fix for optimized thumbnails, so this reverts that.

Voyager is going to the App Store

I'm also excited to announce that the next major focus will be on releasing Voyager as an iOS app! This will fix various iOS bugs that we've encountered (white status bar, scroll "freezing" etc), and bring some nice functionality like haptics and tapping the status bar to scroll to top, and also improve onboarding for people that aren't familiar with Progressive Webapps. It also opens the possibility for other neat features, like the option to open links in your browser instead of in-app. You can see most of the work done in #410, to be merged shortly!

If you're curious how this is possible, check out Capacitor and AppFlow!

Note, an iOS app is subject to approval from Apple which may significantly delay its public release.

(Don't worry! The PWA isn't going anywhere! It has it's own benefits like being self-hostable, quicker updates and being available on desktop computers.)

Once the iOS app is released, work will begin on releasing to the Play Store.

BREAKING CHANGE

Voyager now connects directly to ALL Lemmy instances! If your Lemmy instance does not support CORS (using an old version of Lemmy), you will no longer be able to connect. Virtually all larger Lemmy instance have been upgraded with support for direct connect for Lemmy clients.

Custom swipe gestures

Thanks to @rsammelson for this great new feature! You can now customize swipe gestures however you desire - including turning them off. Check it out in Settings!

With this change, the long right swipe for posts is now bookmark instead of hide. You can change this back to the way it was in Gesture Settings, if you prefer!

Instance sidebar

From the Communities list, click the icon the header to view the instance sidebar! From here you can view the admins (and direct message them), as well as view other helpful information.

The most noticeable changes of this bugfix release:

• Infinite scroll should no longer get 'stuck' when a request fails!

The gesture UI for upvote/downvote/hide/etc now looks nicer, and tapping upvote/downvote buttons have a little "pop" animation!
