Dictate

This update brings some cool new features:

• You can now change a setting to enable a resend button. This button will send the previous recorded file, or an aborted file if something happened during the last recording. 🔄
• You can now change the typing animation speed in the settings. This animation now also works for rewording. 💪
• In the settings, you can now see the audio cache size and clear it. 🧹
• Some design changes and bug fixes have been made. ✨

This update is just a fix for a bug in the last version, that you probably didn't even notice. 🙃

This update brings some cool new features:

• You can now record new rewording prompts instantly. Just click on the small microphone icon in the top bar, to start the recording. ChatGPT will use your spoken prompt to edit your selected text. 🎤
• If you press and hold the recording button, you can select an audio or video file up to 25 MB and Dictate will send this file for transcription. 📄
• In the settings, it is now easier to choose a style prompt for Whisper. For most of you, the default value "Use punctuation and capitalization" should work fine. ⚙️
• Some design changes and bug fixes have been made. ✨

• In the settings, you can now change the OpenAI model used for rewording in the background. Newer models released by OpenAI will always be added in the future. 💪
• I added a detailed usage page in the settings, where you can track the usage and the cost of Dictate at any time. 📊
• You will find a button in the rewording section of the keyboard to quickly add new prompts. ✏️
• Errors and logs will automatically sent to me, so that I can easier investigate them to fix bugs and improve the app. 🐛

This update brings some major changes that make Dictate a truly powerful tool:

• In the settings, you can now define your own rewording prompts. This allows you to have dictated text revised by ChatGPT, offering endless possibilities. You will find some example prompts in the settings that you can use as guides. 💡
• The previous translation function has been removed, as you can now translate more flexibly with the rewording prompts. ❌
• When you hold down the Enter button, you can now swipe to quickly insert characters without having to switch to another keyboard. You can set up to 8 custom characters in the settings. 🔤
• Dictate now uses GPT-4o-mini to reduce costs. I plan to let you choose the GPT model for rewording in the future. 💸
• Some design changes and bug fixes have been made. ✨

This update adds an option to specify the input language, to speed up text recognition and increase reliability. 🤩

This is the second update for Dictate. 🤩
You can now change an option in the settings to enable instant recording as soon as you switch to the Dictate keyboard.
Some people requested a feature to use their own Whisper API server. This is now possible too.

First update to Dictate: 🥳

• You can now automatically translate the recognized text to many different languages (not only English).
• Many older devices are supported now too.
