Why resque-c?

Chris Wanstrath (defunkt on github) did a fine job implementing resque in Ruby. My requirements include the following:

  • Embedded Targets
    • Ruby is a tough sell to include in a memory restricted environment.

TODO

Figure out:

  1. Job execution
  2. JSON payload

resque uses a JSON payload that includes the class name. ie:

{ 'class': 'Archive', 'args': [ 44, 'masterbrew' ] }

I believe the payload should probably stay the same, but I'm considering using Lua (www.lua.org) to implement the job. For example:

Archive:new(44, 'masterbrew').execute()
